Summer Reading Week 1 Recap: “Zumba”

July 7, 2016 By Salmon Library Staff Leave a Comment

Get Your Body Moving
It started with maraca’s and ended with Zumba. A special thank you to Lexie Keller our wonderful Zumba instructor who got the kids outta their seats and moving around. This year’s theme for Summer Reading is “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” where we’re incorporating both reading and physical activity.

To start the day, much like at the dentist, the young readers had a great checkup. Well on their way to reaching their goals the participants were awarded with prizes. It was then time for a small arts and crafts project which went off without a hitch and provided the back meeting room with an ample amount of shaking noise. From beans to easter egg shells, the Maraca was born! Each having their own noise making device in stepped Lexie.

For her, Maraca’s weren’t enough, it was time to pump up the room with some Zumba music. The beat went on and the kids followed suit. Bending, stretching, rotating & pumping, it was laughter, exercise, and fun all rolled into one. A great week 1 activity to compliment an already successful Summer Reading program.
