What’s That Thing In The Corner?

July 7, 2016 By Salmon Library Staff Leave a Comment

A Step In The Right Direction
You might be asking yourself the next time you come into the Salmon Public Library to use the computer, “What’s That Thing In The Corner?”. Is it a safe? If so what’s it protecting? None of those questions would be out of the ordinary as we are proud to start showcasing something never seen before at Salmon Library, a laptop charging station!

Appreciatively accepting a grant via J.A. & Kathryn Foundation working in partnership with Khan Academy this summer in presenting Summer of Code, Intro to JavaScript Drawing & Animation, we received 16 Chromebooks, mice, headphones and this amazing charging station. After next week’s last class on Wednesday for our participants, we’ll be opening the laptops open to public use. No more waiting in line for an available computer, nor having someone look over your shoulder should you want some privacy. You’ll simply pull out a chromebook, check it out at the front desk, and be free to wander around the library finding a comfortable spot to do some work or have some fun.

We’re very fortunate to receive such a great addition to the new library and hope the community appreciates it as well. We’ll be doing more promotion as the time gets nearer to open the charging station for public use. As always thanks for your loyal patronage and hope you continue to have a great experience when you come into the library.
