In 3, 2, 1….We’re Live!

First Ever Facebook Live Event
Here we are, smack dab in the middle of rural Idaho, located 2.5 hrs from a major interstate yet we have the ability to communicate with the outside world like they were just next door. What a crazy time to be living in, so why not take advantage of it. For the past few years we’ve done the “Let’s Talk About It Series” (LTAI) which has always been a patron favorite. This year with one of our events, the second LTAI on the schedule, “The Women of Brewster Place” we’ve received permission from our presenter Helen Bertram to be able to send her out into the inter-waves of connectivity with Facebook Live.

So on February 23rd, 7:00PM you’ll be able to participate in our exciting book discussion series no matter where you live!! It could be that the weather is too bad to come to town and you want to log into our Facebook page to watch the stream. Or simply you find it more enjoyable to sit in your pajamas by the wood stove with a glass of wine while listening to this book discussion series from the comfort of your own home. Whatever the reason is for you, there is no reason not to participate. This is a first time experiment run so please be gentle on us for technical difficulties. The goal is to have the moderator (not the audience for privacy sake) on camera broadcasting live via Facebook. From there you can listen to exactly what’s happening in the library and at the end, we intend to open up the discussion to our Facebook viewing audience to type in questions to the comment field for us at the event to relay to our moderator!

If this works it could usher in a new way of library programming events and give access to a greater amount of people and wider range of discussion from all who are involved. As always you’re invited to the actual event, but should you not be able to attend, now there is a way for you to stay connected.
