LIBRARY PROGRAM RECAP: “Let’s Talk About It – The Great Gatsby”

January 27, 2017 By Salmon Library Staff Leave a Comment

Let's Talk About It - The Great Gatsby - Laura Zuckerman
So far each and every year, Laura Zuckerman has made her library appearance memorable in the form of presenting at our Let’s Talk About It Book discussion series and this year was no different. Rejuvenating a book many had left behind since high school she brought her quirky journalistic view point to The Great Gatsby, imploring the audience to participate. With the addition of a talking stick this year, although awkward at times, made itself useful in managing expectations amongst the lively book group. Not all who joined found the book enjoyable, which in itself is worthy of discussion. A healthy debate over a nice spread of food (supplied by Odd Fellows Bakery) is what the best book clubs are made up of. Each having their own opinion, having the opportunity with a well monitored discussion to express that opinion, then each getting the option of how they choose to process said opinion. It’s a great way to spend an evening, meeting your community, and discussion of great works in literature.

If you missed the opening book series discussion on The Great Gatsby, don’t fret we have more coming. The next read is “The Women Of Brewster Place” and takes place on February 23rd, 7:00pm at the library! We’ve got copies available. And as a special treat, even if you cannot attend, because you’re out of town or simply just don’t live here,we still encourage you to read the book and participate in the Facebook Live event which will be held simultaneously online!

Until then Happy Reading!
