LIBRARY UPDATE: “A Place to Create”

March 13, 2017 By Salmon Library Staff Leave a Comment

Giving The Patron A Voice
I was recently posed a question of what does a 21st Century Library look like? I pondered and thought to myself, “Good question.” I think instinctively I know. I know that we need to engage our future patrons in a different way then our current ones. Fridays are examples of that with every child attached to a computer. Passing up the loads of opportunities to read a hardbound book for the entertainment a computer game provides. So how do we as librarians, preparing our facility for the future, take advantage of this piece of knowledge and translate it into good patronage in the future? We must start to think like them.

Introducing the NEW multipurpose recording studio at Salmon Public Library is a step in that direction. It offers opportunity in ways that range from a pure creative endeavor to potentially life changing, career fulfilling aspirations. It’s exactly what you want to make of it. The room is FREE to use (unless you’re profiting from it, then we would ask for a donation) and only takes a moment to book HERE or from the main menu bar on the website under BOOK A ROOM -> Sound Room. Please be sure and read our Sound Room Policy to ensure you’re following our guidelines. This will need to be signed and kept on file prior to use of the room.

We’re excited to bring this room filled with potential to Salmon and look forward to seeing what you can create. It just takes motivation, enthusiasm, and a desire to do so, we’ve provided the rest. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and website for future programming surrounding this room about using particular aspects of this room. Get excited, get inspired, get creative, get MAKING!!!!
