A First Lesson in Making
Last week we had some of our very first outreach programs to the schools coming off our amazing Professional Development workshop day. Jesse Hunt, one of our Americrops VISTA’s went out to Bridget Severe’s English class, a participant of the recent workshop, to help facilitate a discussion on how Making and English can work together. He dove into documentation and the importance of making sure that we catalog our work when we’re being creative. They answered the question: “How might we create a way for (scientists, artists, inventors) to document as they are in the moment of creating? “
The process was a very quick version of the design process in order for the students to start thinking like designers. They got to do quick prototyping on their designs and share what they came up with. All in all it was a very successful first outreach to Salmon 291 and we look forward to heading back with Bridget again as well as other teachers and their classrooms to invigorate future makers!
