The joy and excitement filled the room as each new category for this year’s Salmon Bookfolk challenge got unveiled. One by one there was anticipation to what the participants we’re asked to read. Twenty eager adults, chomping at the bit to get their hands on this years new books we’ve selected to begin their winter journey of reading.
Last year we started a Bookfolk challenge which asked participants to read one book from 24 categories in 10 months. That equals to about 2 books per month. We had a 30% of our cohort finish, but even those that didn’t exclaimed how much they enjoyed getting out of their reading comfort zone. This year we revamped and brought back the challenge asking participants to read either 40 books or 20 books (two Tiers) in 8 months. Each comes with their own reward and level of satisfaction.
On Friday night we celebrated this event by letting folks know what categories they would have to choose from. Some are interactive, meaning you need to come into the library to figure out your selection, some are easily accessible from the internet. Either way, it’s new, it’s fun, come ask us all about it, sign-ups are still on-going throughout the end of 2017.
