Our #FabSlam team was hard at work on Friday, but you would never know it, based on the laughter and joy that emanates through the room. Our third class saw our final two team members show up one of which was initially reluctant to come but by the end of class said, “This is sooo MUCH fun, I can’t wait to show up every Friday!” I’d say that’s a success.
Each and every week we start off with a fun team building exercise. Getting each member a feel for what it’s like to be part of a team. We featured the exercise called “Zoom“. A great little game in which participants have pictures of a story in which they need to describe to their team and put in sequence order of a cohesive storyline face down on a table. Needless to say, they crushed it.
Last week we introduced to them their very own first 3D printing projects by designing cookie cutters. This week we stepped up the design process with a real world challenge. Problem: Design a table clip that is strong enough to hold one of our youth’s bag. And off they went! Measuring, analyzing, some drawing it out, others first prototyping with cardboard, while others diving right into design. Each student was met with their own challenges based on their approach to which we were able to celebrate the failures, re-iterate, and design again! Can’t wait for next week!!
