Pioneer Elementary Outreach
Rounding out the first two-week rotation in Meriah Schauss Baker & Jane Knoll Feldhausen 5th Grade classes with their Makey Makey team-based challenge. Students explored the Makey Makey’s in week 1, through the testing of different conductive objects, simple scratch coding, and manipulating classic arcade games. In week two they were challenged with creating an interactive riddle as described by the brilliant Colleen Graves / Maker Teacher Librarian, who is always innovating in the classroom and library with a variety of different STEM tools.
To see this level of engagement from students at the end of a long busy school day is evidence of success through a hands-on learning approach. So thankful for our wonderful educators that help facilitate these activities during the week when Salmon Public Library staff is busy crafting the next program!
Looking forward to our next program cycle which will feature special guest hands-on educator, Janet Wiles, exploring the magic of Art through the creation of murals! Stay tuned for some applied math skills of scaling.
