Pioneer Elementary Outreach
Switch loves this budding partnership with the Pioneer Elementary 5th Grade class. In our second cycle of our Power Hour of STEAM we’re exploring ART! You can’t create Art without many elements from STEM. The science of mixing colors, the math of scaling your drawing, and the technology of using tools like paintbrushes, it’s all related!
In their first week of exploration, the youth learned some valuable skills from community volunteer Janet Wiles of complementary colors and scaling on a grid. Each student got to pick out their little monster which will be scaled onto a wall in the Pioneer Elementary representing values of the school and providing certain ownership to the 5th-grade class. Looking forward to seeing this one unfold!
