Bookfolk Challenge
Sign-ups for the Salmon Bookfolk Challenge are NOW open (Nov 1st) Currently we’re in our 9th year of doing this 9-month Winter Reading Challenge where we ask participants to read one book per category (24 books in total) by June 1st, 2025 to earn a reward. But mainly to have fun, and challenge themselves by reading books outside of their normal reading habits.
Great, you’re in! Now how do you participate:
1) Come down to the library to sign up
2) Take all the necessary handouts (a log sheet + supplemental category sheets)
3) Read books from now until June 1st.
Things NEW for 2024-2025:
*Improved rating system for just how good was that book
*Access the Salmon Bookfolk Challenge categories for the LIBRARY choice side on https://salmonlibrary.org/salmon-bookfolk-challenge…/ or by using the QR codes provided on your tracking Log Sheet.
*As always on the FREE Choice Read side of the log sheet, meaning books you choose based on the category heading, there are a few categories that require interaction with the library staff:
PAY IT FORWARD: Pick a wooden genre token, place it face down, and leave the next participant’s genre choice as a surprise.
SECRET SANTA: Pick a book, we wrap it, then you choose a random gift during December 1st – 31st to read
YOU’RE THE DESIGNER: Fill out the questionnaire that determines what type of book you need to read (think mad libs in a way)
BOOKFOLK BINGO: Choose a bingo card and read your way through a row, column, diagonal, or hit the four corners and center to win!
We had a record number of sign-ups and finishers last year, so let’s make sure we get out there to spread the word and read read read!
