Kids Corner
The new Salmon Public Library boasts an impressive new interactive children’s sections that promotes learning on a variety of different levels. From puzzles to blocks, interactive computers and tablets, with murals to stimulate a healthy imagination. We’ve got some early learning STEM tools to engage your child’s inner engineer. Check out the Tegu Blocks or Magna tiles and try your hand at building the tallest building. We also have a variety of Board Games to boot. When your child isn’t taking advantage of the tools offered in the library, send them home with one of our kid friendly book review certificates to fill out and hang in the library encouraging other children to read similar material.

PreSchool Story Hour
Salmon Public Library will continue to offer one hour of storytelling, crafts, books, games, and snacks for children 1st grade and younger, every Wednesday & Friday from 10:30AM-11:30PM. Summer Reading Program
Summer Reading programs are designed to help children maintain or improve their reading readiness when they go back to school. Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL) Summer Reading coordinators, like Salmon Public Library strive to provide summer program resources based on sound research and best practices. Awe Learning on Computer
The Early Literacy Station™ (ELS) is designed specifically for our youngest patrons ages 2-8 and features over 4,000 localized learning activities. The fun, interactive and engaging content spans all seven curricular areas: math, science & nature, social studies & geography, reading, art & music, writing & computer skills, and reference. Come in and check it out today!

Outreach Programs
Once a month a library staff member visits child care providers in town to read for fifteen minutes, followed by a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) based activity. The activity provided is themed to the book read that session. Currently the child care providers served are Head Start, CDC (Child Development Center), Kids Creek Early Education Center. If you are a child care provider, you do not need to be ICCP / STARS certified, of youth ages 2-5 and would like Salmon Public Library to visit you, please reach out to salmonlibrary1@gmail.com

PreSchool Classroom Checkout Kits
Early STEM kits now available at the Salmon Public Library to enhance your preschool, daycare or kindergarten classroom! Thanks to resources provided by Idaho Commission for Libraries – ICfL Kindergarten Readiness grant, these kits are available for a one-week check out to any library card holder who works with kids ages 3-7. Each kit includes an Activity Card with suggestions for how to use the materials with your kiddos Talk to a staff person about giving one of these amazing resources a try!
