LIBRARY UPDATE: “There is always a first”

May 30, 2017 By Salmon Library Staff Leave a Comment

Little guys get their first cards
Last week the library hosted THREE first grade classes to which Miss Stephanie warmly greeted. She toured them in their library, pointing out all the wonderful opportunities to come in their future. Hardly able to contain their excitement most were ready to checkout their first book. After answering fun library questions like what is the difference between Fiction & Nonfiction, the kids eagerly ran to their favorite section. One by one, polite as can be, each came to the circulation desk for the first time. Each acted as their own librarian, helping checkout, stamp and take home their very first library book under their name. There are so many “firsts” in life this is surely one of the best. I remember when I received my library card and the power it held. Knowing how much our public libraries can offer us it’s truly a ticket into a world of fantasy, mystery, adventure, or information, the library does it all. So happy to usher in a new era of loyal patrons that will hopefully continue to benefit as well as develop library needs as we move into a new generation of patron holders.
