Madagascar, Land of Lemurs, Chameleons and Sapphires!
A few months ago, Susanna and Allen Marquette went on a trip of a lifetime to explore the jungles and look for wildlife in Madagascar. They spent over two weeks visiting several of the countries parks and wildlife refuges searching for some of the most amazing wildlife found nowhere else in the world! They saw and photographed 23 species of wild lemurs, over 50 species of rare and exotic birds and many chameleons ranging in size from a few inches to 16 inches in length. Allen and Susanna also witnessed a recent mining boom first hand as thousands of Malagasy miners recently discovered the largest gem quality sapphire deposit ever found. They saw entire families digging and screening for some of the finest and most valuable sapphires in the world. This presentation will show not only the unique and amazing wildlife found in Madagascar but also look at the critically endangered habitat of these animals and plants.
