[APR 9th] Blockfest Success!
Eastern Idaho Public Health partnered with us to bring BLOCKFest to the Salmon area last Friday, April 5th. BLOCK Fest® is a family interactive event that uses five play stations to introduce participants to the educational value of blocks. BLOCK Fest is a research-based exhibit that helps raise awareness of early math and science skills while providing opportunities to increase social skills and literacy opportunities for young children by offering hands-on block play. Parents discover how they can help their children learn early math and science concepts while they play with blocks through guided play and conversation. The Mayor and County Commissioner joined in on the fun and proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, and reminded us all to do our part to protect our future generations. We had 79 participants. Thank you to all who made this wonderfully educational event possible. We are looking forward to future youth programming and building upon these community bonds.
[APR 26th] Spring Book Sale
[MAR 23rd] AG Week at Storytime
We had a spectacular time celebrating AG Week here at the library! With the help of the UI Extension Lemhi County office and the local FFA students we learned about Idaho’s agriculture industry at Storytime on Wednesday and Friday. They brought us agriculture coloring books and crayons, and wonderful books about where our food comes from. We even made homemade ice cream! Thank you to all who made these events, and the rest of the Ag Week celebrations possible!
[MAR 7th] Design within Constraints
We had a great outreach program with Meriah Schauss Baker and the 4th/5th grade students at FernWaters Charter yesterday. we did a hands on challenge where we designed within constraints where students were asked to build the tallest towers with the least amount of bricks as possible within a 5min time limit. Then we invited out STEM career professionals Aaron Hoffman and Don Stamp who work in the field of Architecture to talk about what makes a good strong building as well as some of what they do. Thank you so much to everyone involved for making this a successful program!
