We ended Summer Reading 2024 with a BANG! Much fun was had by all, memories were made, and knowledge was gained. Suzy Avey from the Sacajawea Center, a couple of lovely ladies from the Idaho BLM, and our staff and volunteers put on quite the program regarding mapping, and how to orient oneself year. We learned about the different types of maps, historically and in the present day. We even talked briefly about how our young attendees could persue a cartography degree, and make a career out of the art and science of map-making. Our last Summer Reading Program this year is next Tuesday, July 30th. We hope to see you all there!

Yesterday was a huge success here at the Salmon Public Library! We had nearly 60 attendees at our first Summer Reading Program of the year. We also had the help of about 10 volunteers without whom none of this would have been possible, thank you all! Mr. Allen Marquette was our special guest, and his amazing rock collection was the star of the show! Allen even had rack specimen who were light refractive and reflective. He even had a few that put off fluorescent light! In the small room we made pet rocks by creating, painting, and embellishing rocks I found in my backyard! Fun was had by all, and we all got to take home a beautiful rock! Thank you Allen and Ramona!
